Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday is a part of the Shop Small Movement that was launched by American Express in 2010 to support local shops, small businesses that form the core of our communities. For the past 8 years, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, in what has become an annual shopping tradition, the nation gets together to bring more holiday shopping to small businesses by shopping small.
What was started with an intention of encouraging small businesses bleeding from the economy in recession in 2010, got a thumbs up from the President of the United States in 2012 and by 2017 had more than 7,200 Neighborhood Champions across all the 50 states. Business associations, public officials, municipalities, nonprofit trade groups, and corporations have united to support this movement.
